Women's Rights are Human Rights

Women's rights are the fundamental human rights that were enshrined by the United Nations for every human being on the planet nearly 70 years ago. These rights include the right to live free from violence, slavery, and discrimination; to be educated; to own property; to vote; and to earn a fair and equal wage. As the now-famous saying goes, “women’s rights are human rights.” That is to say, women are entitled to all of these rights. Yet almost everywhere around the world, women and girls are still denied them, often simply because of their gender. Winning rights for women is about more than giving opportunities to any individual woman or girl; it is also about changing how countries and communities work. It involves changing laws and policies, winning hearts and minds, and investing in strong women’s organizations and movements. Global Fund for Women exists to support the tireless and courageous efforts of women’s groups who work every day to win rights for women and girls. These...

Ang Araw ng Kagitingan

The Bataan Fall, i n order to resist and fight back against an invasion, many Filipinos and troops displayed incredible bravery and heroism. Despite the challenges they encountered, they fought back with vigor against the enemy.     Strength and Valor were shown during the Battle of Bataan.  Around 76,000 Filipinos and Americans surrendered to Japanese forces during the Bataan Death March,  Dehydration, heat prostration, untreated wounds, and indiscriminate executions claimed the lives of  thousands. Only 54,000 individuals made it to their destination; the number of persons who died is difficult to estimate. Most individuals fought and suffered hardship in order to live and gain freedom, despite being tortured, beaten, and humiliated.     Some say Independence cant be claimed be the faint hearted. The soldiers on that day were far from timid and meek.  The Bataan Death March illustrates that both the army...

Reflecting upon my Studies

We are here again at the end of the quarter, and we are near the end of Grade 10 as we are only one quarter away from graduating to become Seniors. This quarter, I have learned much about CBR (Community-Based Research) and ICT. This quarter has been enjoyable since I had fun researching my community and learning more about it.      This quarter has been a real roller-coaster; I had my ups and downs and fun. I have learned many things that I will keep and try to apply in my day-to-day life. The CBR (Community-Based Research) taught me a lot about how to research and about my community. This quarter was not smooth sailing as I would have expected it to be, though I had a lot of sets back from all the thematic or all the projects I had to finish. Because of all of this, this quarter is very problematic.      However, in the end, I have finished all of them, and this quarter wasn’t easy, and I had it pretty rough. But, on the other side of a...

This is the season where we be closer to God and acknowledge his love and sacrifice for our sins. The Lenten Season is an important season mainly because it is the time that we grow closer to God. In this time, we pray to him and repent our sins and appreciate the all the blessings that he gave to us. May we celebrate this season and let us praise and worship God and for everything he has done for us

The Ilocano Culture

As the month of February arrives,   we are greeted with many festivals in Ilocos Sur, mainly the Kannawidan Festival. The Kannawidan Festival is  A festival in the Province of Ilocos  Sur   commemorating the separation of the two Ilocos provinces in 1818 . This festival is a showcase of indigenous performances, religious rituals, as well cooking demos featuring the best of Ilocano dishes.     The Kannawidan Ylocos Festival has a lot to offer, wherein there are shows, souvenir  shops to buy a memorable item from the festival and a Carnival. But unfortunately due to the pandemic going outside may cause more harm than good for the people. But this year, because a lot of people wanted to go to the festival,   locos Sur implemented a no vaccination card, no entry to lessen the risk of spreading the virus.      Despite the pandemic, we still need to find a way to celebrate this festival, as it's our culture, and ...

Reflecting Upon My Studies.

The Second Quarter of my studies have now come to an end, with it came the Third Quarter. During my studies on the Second Quarter, I have learned a lot that can help me in the future, this quarter also brought some challenges that I overcame, some activities that I have participated in and learned from. The HTML is the main thing that we learned during this quarter. I never knew what was the use of the HTMLs or that I would learn how to coding using them. While learning these, I found them very interesting and found myself enjoying to learn them. Learning something new is can be enjoyable but sometimes it can also be confusing. While doing them there was not really an issue, most of my activities went how it should be. Overall, this quarter was actually really fun. Because learning something new is always enjoyable. And the knowledge that I have gained during this quarter might also help me in the future.
