The Ilocano Culture

As the month of February arrives, we are greeted with many festivals in Ilocos Sur, mainly the Kannawidan Festival. The Kannawidan Festival is A festival in the Province of Ilocos Sur commemorating the separation of the two Ilocos provinces in 1818. This festival is a showcase of indigenous performances, religious rituals, as well cooking demos featuring the best of Ilocano dishes.

The Kannawidan Ylocos Festival has a lot to offer, wherein there are shows, souvenir shops to buy a memorable item from the festival and a Carnival. But unfortunately due to the pandemic going outside may cause more harm than good for the people. But this year, because a lot of people wanted to go to the festival, locos Sur implemented a no vaccination card, no entry to lessen the risk of spreading the virus.

Despite the pandemic, we still need to find a way to celebrate this festival, as it's our culture, and we need to essentially preserve and maintain it to keep the beauty of our beautiful province.

So, it is just great to have this thing wherein everybody gets along, where every person sings happily, greet and be together. Now from what's happening worldwide, we needed this Christmas magic. With this pandemic and not so great things happening across the world, we needed this break and be jolly. While we can’t meet most of our friends or families to give gifts, we can still greet them a Merry Christmas. All in all, we should work together to make the following holiday a better one. But we need to keep in mind that is Christmas is not about simply giving gifts or receiving them; it is about our Lord Jesus Christ. He is the reason why we are celebrating this season. That's is all and Merry Chri...
